About Our Land Grading Service

Land grading is the work of reshaping the surface of your property so it sits level, drains correctly, and is ready for whatever comes next. If your lot is uneven, holds standing water, slopes toward the house, or is too rough to build on or mow, that's a grading problem — and it's exactly what we fix.

Property owners across Sarasota and Manatee counties call us to level a yard before laying sod, smooth out a newly cleared lot, grade an acreage parcel for a barn or pasture, or regrade a property so rainwater runs away from the foundation instead of pooling against it.

Whether it's a quarter-acre backyard or a multi-acre parcel of raw land, we bring the right equipment, move only the dirt that needs moving, and leave you with a clean, compacted, properly sloped surface. No guesswork, no rutted mess left behind.

Drains-Right Promise

We grade every property so water runs away from your structures, not toward them. If our grading leaves water pooling where it shouldn't, we come back and fix the slope at our expense.

Land Grading & Lot Leveling for Southwest Florida Property Owners

Florida's flat terrain is deceptive. A lot can look level to the eye and still hold water for days after a storm, because grade is about fractions of an inch across the whole property — not what you can see standing in the yard. When land isn't graded to slope water away, it pools against foundations, drowns sod, breeds mosquitoes, and turns a usable lot into a swamp.

As experienced land grading contractors serving Bradenton, Sarasota, and the surrounding counties, we level and reshape properties of every size — from a single backyard that won't grow grass to multi-acre parcels being prepped for a home, barn, or pasture. We read how water actually moves across your land and rebuild the surface so it drains the way it should.

Land grading is also the natural next step after land clearing. Once trees and brush come out, the ground is left rough and uneven. Grading turns that raw, cleared parcel into a smooth, build-ready surface — which is why so many owners have us clear and grade in the same visit and save a second mobilization.

Land Grading Process

How Land Grading Works

01

Walk the Land

We walk your property with you, find the low spots and slope problems, and shoot elevations to see how the water actually moves.

02

Grading Plan & Quote

You get a clear plan and a transparent quote — how much cut and fill, where the dirt goes, and the final slope we're building to.

03

Cut, Fill & Level

We move earth to level the lot, fill low areas, and shape positive slope away from structures, compacting as we go.

04

Finish & Clean

We spread topsoil where needed, leave a smooth final grade ready for sod, gravel, or a build, and clean up every rut.

Land Grading vs. Site Grading — Which Do You Need?

People use "grading" for two related but different jobs, and getting the right one saves you money. Land grading reshapes and levels an existing or raw property to a smooth, well-draining surface — leveling a yard, smoothing a cleared lot, grading acreage, or fixing drainage. It's what most property owners and landowners are after.

Site grading is the tighter, engineered version tied to a construction project: laser-guided building pads, driveways, and commercial surfaces cut to exact elevations from a set of plans. If a builder or engineer handed you a grading spec, that's site grading. If you just need your land level and draining right, that's land grading — and it's usually the more affordable, straightforward job.

Land Grading Reviews

"Lethermon and his team went above and beyond. We couldn't grow grass in our front yard for years. We laid sod twice and both times, it died within a few months. BUT, Lethermon was able to help us by removing the first several inches of top soil, and then grading it out well to place sod again on fresh soil. He got us a great deal on new sod, and even ripped out a tree that was dying in the middle of the yard which helped us out a lot. Most importantly, we had an irrigation system that was very shallow and he managed to salvage a large amount of it so I didn't have to replace it all, and that takes a lot of skill. Our lawn is now thriving, even a year later."

"WOW!! Kameron and his team were FANTASTIC! We hired Lethermon to regrade our backyard. During the first meeting with Kameron, it was clear that he was professional, and very experienced in this type of project. He gave us a very fair quote and a quick scheduling time. He arranged for over 30 trucks of dirt to be delivered and made sure to protect the edges of the driveway from damage, and each day, his team cleaned up the site. He continually checked in with me to ensure that the job was being done to my satisfaction. He finished the job AHEAD of schedule and went above and beyond to make sure that he left the site in perfect condition."

"Kameron and his team were great from start to finish! We hired them to grade/extend our driveway and refill our washed out shell drive — we are very happy with the results! The entire process was smooth, and it is clear that Kameron truly values and cares about his customers. It was refreshing to work with him and his team. Great communication, punctuality, and quality work. He checked in throughout the process to ensure that the job was what we wanted and answered any questions we had along the way. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

FAQ

Land Grading Questions

What's the difference between land grading and site grading?
They overlap, but the goal is different. Land grading is about leveling and reshaping an existing or raw property — fixing an uneven yard, smoothing a cleared lot, grading acreage, or correcting drainage. Site grading is the precision, laser-guided grading tied to a construction project — building pads and driveways cut to exact engineered elevations. If you're building, see our site grading service; if you're leveling land or fixing your yard, land grading is what you want.
How much does land grading cost?
Land grading is priced by acreage, how much cut and fill is involved, and whether dirt has to be hauled in or off. Small residential lots often run a few hundred to a few thousand dollars, while multi-acre parcels are quoted per acre after we walk the property. We give free, no-obligation on-site estimates.
Can you level my yard so I can lay sod?
Yes — that's one of our most common residential jobs. We strip and reshape the surface, fill low spots, build a gentle slope away from the house, and leave a smooth, compacted final grade with topsoil spread and ready for sod or seed.
My yard holds water after it rains. Can grading fix that?
Usually, yes. Standing water almost always means the ground is too flat or slopes the wrong way. Regrading to create positive slope moves the water off — and when a lot needs more than slope alone, we pair grading with a drainage solution like a French drain or swale.
Do you grade raw and newly cleared land?
Absolutely. After land clearing, a lot is usually rough and rutted. We rough-grade cleared parcels — knocking down high spots, filling holes, and shaping the land — so it's smooth, stable, and ready to build on, sod, or use.
