About Our Land Clearing Service

Before any construction project can begin, the land must be cleared of trees, brush, stumps, and debris. Our land clearing service handles everything from small residential lot clearing to multi-acre commercial sites.

We use modern equipment including bulldozers, excavators, and skid steers to efficiently remove vegetation, grub root systems, and haul away all debris. Our crews work carefully around property boundaries and any features you want preserved.

Florida land presents unique challenges including dense palmettos, sand pine, and root systems that extend deep into the sandy soil. Our experience in Southwest Florida means we know exactly how to handle these conditions efficiently.

Land Clearing & Site Prep

How we make raw land build-ready in Florida conditions.

Why Florida Land Clearing Requires Local Expertise

Florida's subtropical climate produces dense vegetation growth that standard clearing methods can't handle efficiently. Species like Brazilian pepper, melaleuca, and dense palmetto stands require specific equipment and techniques to clear properly without damaging surrounding soil structure.

Southwest Florida properties also face unique regulatory requirements. Sarasota County and Manatee County each have specific tree protection ordinances, environmental buffers, and stormwater regulations that affect how land clearing must be performed. Working with a local contractor who understands these rules saves time and prevents costly violations.

At Lethermon Grade Excavations, our crews have cleared hundreds of lots across the Sarasota-Bradenton corridor. We know which permits you need, which trees are protected, and how to clear efficiently while staying compliant with local codes.

Preparing Your Lot for Construction After Clearing

Land clearing is just the first step in site preparation. Once vegetation is removed, your property needs proper grading, drainage evaluation, and compaction before construction can begin. Many property owners don't realize that poor post-clearing preparation leads to foundation problems, drainage failures, and expensive rework months later.

As a full-service excavation company, we handle the complete progression from clearing through grading and drainage — ensuring each phase is done correctly and the next trade can proceed without delays. This integrated approach saves our clients time, money, and coordination headaches.

Large-Scale Debris & Material Handling

Clearing a big or heavily-wooded site generates an enormous volume of material — whole trees, stumps, root balls, brush, and stripped vegetation that all has to go somewhere. We're built for exactly that. With excavators, loaders, and our own fleet of dump trucks, we handle large-scale debris and bulk material handling on jobs most clearing outfits have to sub out or turn away.

That lets us take a site from standing timber to a clean, hauled-off, grade-ready lot in one coordinated mobilization — loading, hauling, and disposing of every load ourselves, or grinding and repurposing material on-site where it makes sense. The same capacity moves dirt and spoil on our excavation and demolition jobs, so a large project never stalls waiting on hauling.

Load-out, hauling & disposal handled in-house

Land Clearing Reviews

5.0 Average Rating

"Lethermon and his team went above and beyond. We couldn't grow grass in our front yard for years. We laid sod twice and both times, it died within a few months. BUT, Lethermon was able to help us by removing the first several inches of top soil, and then grading it out well to place sod again on fresh soil. He got us a great deal on new sod, and even ripped out a tree that was dying in the middle of the yard which helped us out a lot. Most importantly, we had an irrigation system that was very shallow and he managed to salvage a large amount of it so I didn't have to replace it all, and that takes a lot of skill. Our lawn is now thriving, even a year later."

Homeowner

"A professional service from start to finish. Kameron and his team take pride in their work. Punctual, hard-working and takes care to ensure your requirements are met. We will ask them back to finish the front of the building when we are ready."

Michael Dawson

Commercial Property Owner

"We dig 2-3 pools per month and have struggled with finding a dig/grade/haul company for a while. Kameron and his guys started helping us a few months back and they have been an absolute game changer. Always prompt and courteous. Really could not ask for more out of these guys."

FAQ

Land Clearing Questions

How much does land clearing cost in Florida?
Land clearing is quoted by the acre after we walk the property — the price depends on how heavily wooded the lot is, access, and how much debris we haul off. We provide free on-site estimates so you get a real number for your specific lot rather than a guess.
Do I need permits for land clearing?
In most cases, yes. Sarasota and Manatee counties require tree removal permits for certain species and sizes. We coordinate with local authorities to ensure all permits are in place.
How long does land clearing take?
A typical residential lot can be cleared in 1-3 days. Larger or heavily wooded properties may take up to a week. We'll give you an accurate timeline during the estimate.
Can you clear around trees I want to keep?
Absolutely. We offer selective clearing where we protect designated trees and clear everything else. We'll flag the trees you want preserved before work begins.
Can you handle large-scale debris and material hauling?
Yes. We run excavators, loaders, and our own fleet of dump trucks, so we handle high-volume debris and bulk material handling in-house — whole trees, stumps, brush, and stripped material on large or heavily-wooded sites. We load, haul, and dispose of it ourselves, or grind and repurpose it on-site where that makes sense, so a big job never stalls waiting on hauling.
